Atmoweld Exporter for 3D Studio Max (LightWave File Object Export): Export Materials

Material support

The following classes of the materials are supported in Atmoweld Exporter:

  • Standard
  • Multi-Sub Object
  • Atmoweld Material (LightWave Compatible)

Atmoweld Material (LightWave Compatible) - material is the part of Atmoweld;

The materials which do not fall in this list, can be exported with the Fix Icompatible Materials. In this case the material is also substituted in the 3D Studio Max scene. You should backup your scene to preserve those materials, which are incompatible with Atmoweld Exporter.

Export Map from 3D Studio Max to Newtek LightWave

3D Studio Max: Standard Material to LightWave: Surface Editor

Diffuse Map and Color Map

Diffuse Map Of 3D Studio Max is similar to Lightwave 3D Color Map (the first item in the list in Surface Editor dialog).

Luminosity Map and Self-Illumination Map

Self-Illumination (3D Studio Max) is similar to Luminosity (Lightwave 3D).
Game Development: you may use Luminosity maps for Lightmap highlighting.

Transparency Map and Opacity Map

Atmoweld Exporter converting Opacity to Transparency: Transparency(%) = 100(%) - Opacity(%);

Reflection and Specularity

Atmoweld Exporter takes into account Specularity and Reflection. Atmoweld Exporter uses Specularity Level (from 3D Studio MAX).

Tranclucency and Filter Color

Atmoweld Exporter converts Filter Color (3D Studio Max) to Tranclucency (LightWave).

Refraction

Atmoweld Exporter takes into account Refraction.

Materials in Newtek Lightwave 3D 8.x and 9.0

Invoke LightWave Modeler 8.5 (9.0) and press "F5" button.

The exported parameters are marked with the green color:

Map Channel: 3D Studio Max and Exprort Limitations

Atmoweld Exporter supports map channel #1 only.
